This Lifetime Assistance service provides intensive support and training to parents with developmental disabilities and their children in order to prevent foster care placements. Training for parents includes:
- Parenting education
- Social activities
- Recreation
- Other life-enriching experiences
Comprehensive Parent Training
This program provides intensive training and supports to parents with developmental disabilities. The program is designed to train parents in the areas that are specific to each parent’s goals and needs. A Family Coordinator works with each family in their home. The Family Coordinator and the parent develop person-centered goals that will assist in all areas of parenting. Many of key goal areas include anger management, proper disciplinary techniques, medical needs, nutrition, advocacy and understanding the stages of child development. This program is designed to empower parents with developmental disabilities and develop abilities to care for their children in a safe and healthy manner.
